Questions I thought were harder
2,25,18,42,13,9,25,51,56,60

The ones that I got wrong were the ones that had the harder vocabulary and the ones I dozed off on while attempting to take this test.

Reflections on week 1!

1. I think me working and also doing a sport is  definitely going to affect my experience in this class. I get really busy an I end up being more tired than I realize, then that contributes to me doing homework and falling asleep in class. But I hope to overcome those obsticols and get a more than  excellent grade in this class.
2. The best learning experience that changed me was reading "A long way Gone" in my sophomore English class for a literature analysis. I learned a lot about the rebels in Africa and how they come and terrorize innocent cities and take over completely. I had a group of 3 other students that read it with me but I don't believe they got into it as much as I. It taught me that I learned a lot better when it's something that I think is interesting. I knew I was learning because I never read anything and I read that book any time I got a chance cover to cover.
3. I'm excited about the way Dr. Preston thinks, he has a very Diffrent mind set then other teachers. I'm concerned about the work load but I'm more then capable of adjusting . I look forward to self teaching . I think it will make a big difference in my life because for once a teachers not threatening everyone to do there homework or else there's going I be a consequence.

Montaigne/Austen Essay

Usally when Authors write books they stick to one topic in hopes that the reader will get A deeper understanding of what thoughts they are trying to portray. This isn't the case in the Montaigne essays. Every thought that was generated, every word that was thought of,and every sentence that was put together was put into what i would call Michel De Montaines diary and not an essay. Jane Austens work does not compare to Wallaces work in a way of structure. infact it seems that she can not at all gear off in another direction with an unfinished idea. She focuses on the rising love between Elizabeth and Darcy and strictly stays in the line of an ordered secretive relationship that keeps the readers wondering. Exactly what makes them different, that Austen is able to hold information in to keep you wondering about what's happening next while Montaigne lays it all out for you. "what goes on inside is just too fast and huge and all interconnected for words to do more than barley sketch the outlines of at most on tiny little part of it at any given instant" Montaigne goes from topics of education to religion that seems to be the least bit related. but then he explains the connection that goes on within his mind although most are still very amazing to me.but as his writing seemed to be everywhere at once he still had quite a bit of structure in it. all of his arguments were supported with quotes from greek mythology, and latin, and Italian phrases as well. Montaine opened up the minds of many to expand the ideas that go through everyone's mind and turn them into something much bigger and greater. Jane Austen did not just connect her thoughts, she connected her characters as well. her story was told from two perspectives, one as a narrator or and the other being Elizabeth.

I CAN READ!!!!!!!

i made a total of10 mistakes and it took me 5 minutes and 13 seconds to read this book. i apologize to those who look at this.

My big question

Why is it that we look up to people we don't even know. People in movies, models, actors, we say we wish we were them, but truth is. We don't even really know who they are

my essay

Everyone has a safe place somewhere you go to disconnect yourself in the world, a place that has many past memories, or even just a place to rest your head at night. Now as your picturing that place in your head, imagine a getting destroyed by an army of rebels who's only intention is to kill and destroy. Ravaging through everything and anything, and worst of all exterminating your family. How would your story be written in the aftermath?
Taking place in the Sierra Leone, 12-year-old Ishmael Beah was forced to run away from his home because of attacking rebels. Beah experience what none could even imagine, coming home to it destroyed and abandoned home. from encounter with his demolished Safe haven, he took on quite a bit of sadness and turned it into rage. It's exciting to see how hurt feelings and lost hope you can make someone want to accomplish and conquer everything in the world, even more when anger is turned into drive. Even though what he wanted to accomplish wasn't the best thing. This story if anything else is a transformation story going from complete fullness and joy, to abandonment and loneliness, to loving and educating others.
from spending a month in the rain forest fighting for your life, being addicted to marijuana and cocaine, doing the same things to other families as what tore yours apart and killing prisoners brutally, you can infer that nothing more was going to be made out of ishmaels life and he was going to end up dead like everyone else. But that's exactly what makes his story so enriching and exciting. Again his life dramatically changed and he was given the opportunity to change lives. UNICEF removed Ishmael and other boys from the camp that brainwash them into becoming killing machines and gave them the home again. Soon with the recognition of how smart he is and what he could share with peopl so that they could take something from his experience. He traveled to the United States telling his story and teaching about the dangers in Africa.
Like Ishmael many of us would act out and turn the wrong direction if something so close to our hearts was ripped away so soon. But it really about what you do after the storm that counts. Making the most out of a situation is detrimental to learning and living. Take something bad and turn it into something worth wild.
